When I wrote last I talked about my adventures at the Pomona, CA Dirtsports off-road expo that I was at last weekend. While I was there I ran into my friends at Pirate4x4.com. Pirate 4x4 is the largest online 4x4 forum in the world. They have millions of subscribers and get millions of hits every month to their web site. On their website you can find anything you want to know about competition rockcrawling to weekend type 4x4ing and you can communicate back and forth with anyone who is a member. Pirate 4x4 even has their own online 4x4 TV shows called Pirate TV.
Pirate 4x4 is run by a dude name Lance Clifford and a guy who goes by Camo. They reside in Georgetown, CA which is basically not to far from the world renowned Rubicon trail. The Rubicon is respected by many as the gnarliest trail and one of the elite rockcrawling trails in the world.
While I was at the expo I did some interviews for Pirate TV and their show with Jessi Combs from Extreme 4x4 that used to be on Spike TV. She has been helping the guys at Pirate 4x4 as the host of their new series. At night after the expo, I found myself hanging out with Lance, Camo and Jessi every night. Well after a long weekend of getting lost on the California freeway system and show furring their drunk butts around, they approached me with an opportunity of a life time. Camo approached me about co-driving with him this November at the Baja 1000 in the Jeep Speed class. This has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. This race has been raced by everyone from legends like Walker Evans, Ivan Stewart, Robby Gordon, to celebrities like James Garner, Steve McQueen and Jessi James. Even freestyle motocross legends like Travis Pastrana, Mike Metzger, Kenny Bartram and Dust To Glory’s star Mike “Mouse” McCoy show up and race every year.
Unfortunately it’s only 4 weeks away and that is just not enough time for me to get ready. I told Camo, next year for sure. That way I can prepare for it better. I’m pretty bummed that I can’t race this year but I was honored that they would ask me to be apart of their team for such a historic race. If you have never check out Pirate 4x4 you should stop by some time and check it out. Go to www.pirate4x4.com.
Until next week, always “PUSH THE LIMITS” because life’s too short not to………...
